GERMAN PREMIERE
GÖTTINGEN, MARCH 2026

“Standing ovations at the end of a Passion oratorio performance: that’s a rare occurrence. But the performance of Nikolaus Matthes’s St. Mark Passion on Saturday in the Church of St. Jacobi had the audience leaping to their feet.”
Göttinger Tageblatt
Michael Schäfer, March 9, 2026

On Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, 2026, the German premiere of the St. Mark Passion took place in Göttingen. In two concerts at the church of St. Jacobi, the Jacobikantorei, the St. Jacobi Chamber Choir, the Göttingen Baroque Orchestra and five vocal soloists performed the St. Mark Passion under the musical direction of Cantor Stefan Kordes. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Stefan Kordes and everyone involved for their commitment and for the moving performances.

Here you can view the programme booklet for the Göttingen concerts.
